I fell in love with all four characters of your novel. Please develop them as well as expanding details about Oakwood, not to mention the shoppes and the clubs there. I'm a Dayton resident and I'm so proud that you're writing about the fine ladies of Oakwood. Can't wait to read its final script.

These are exquisitely rich characters with so much complexitiy that each makes the reader want to read on and unravel their lives. But I do think Georgia and McKenzie are the two more readers will find sympathetic, so I would lead and end with them. Mckenzie does have the most compelling opening, but Georgia's closing lines probably echo most women's self-doubts. So I'd open with McKenzie, then Sara or Roxie, and close with Georgia.

Whatever order the others are in, I think Georgia should be last. Her last sentence about the world already having caved in belongs at the end of those, I think.
I would probably say either McKenzie or Sara first.
:D
Can't wait to read more!!

McKenzie
Roxie
Georgia
Sara

I'm really excited to read this! I think I liked each woman more than the last, and when I went back and read it a second time, I couldn't still couldn't pick a favorite. :)

I don't know why they interested me in that order, they just did. I am going to love this series. These women are fascinating and complicated and wonderful.

Thanks, Cindy. You will be interested to know you agree with Heather Moore. She wanted McKenzie first as well. And your metaphor of the stew is very apt. I can't wait to get going on this!

OK, I didn't mean "slowly hooking" when I posted above. To the contrary, I think McKenzie's hook is VERY efficient and immediate.

What I meant to say was that the melding together of the lives of these four women is somewhat like a savory stew...a slow and ever intensifying experience, building to a potent resolution at the end of the "meal"! :0)

Here's my pick:

McKenzie
Sara
Georgia
Roxie

I feel that McKenzie's opening sentence is compelling in its immediacy and familiarity with readers. Its intriguing and something that is relate-able ... pulling you in and slowly hooking you into the lives, then, of not only McKenzie, but of all four of the other women!

I also feel McKenzie's chapter's second sentence states the premise of the book. It IS a scary, unpredictable world...when a person cannot see meaningful patterns in their existence. Your second sentence in her chapter I feel expresses the underlying premise being explored in the lives of these four women throughout the series. And just as most screenplays have the story question already firmly established by "page three/minute three" in the film, McKenzie's chapter (with your two very succinct initial sentences) launches this whole book series very very nicely.

Beautiful work, GG!
